First of all, while we are slightly changing the alternative book idea: If you would rather do the book as orignially suggested please email us with your address and we will send you additional information and start the Alternate Book Project as originally suggested. (We already have several people interested in this idea so we will still do this if you are interested in this project. :) )

If you would like to participate in both projects that is welcome as well. An update on the Alternate Book Project would be provided this week. :)

Information about the new project: The Pages Project.

Due to the enormous response and interest in this project we are contemplating an alternative idea to our original suggestion.

We're thinking that each person could mail to us their work, page or pages (any size, shape, color, anything they desire) and we will scan the pages as they arrive and post them. Creatively this allows you to use any media or medium that you want that can still be bound into a book. You can use notecards, any kind of paper, you could make a collage, or even make your own paper. 81/2 x 11 or smaller is recommended for binding reasons.

Since anybody could be sending us pages at anytime your identity will remain anonymous. We will give you our address so it will be both the mailing and return address. That will make it less expensive and faster.

Then at the end we will send everyone a complete pdf file of the project. Of course all the pages will be scanned on the livejournal anonymously and anybody can give feedback on each individual page. We will still assemble and bind the pages into a hardcover book if people are interested in having a copy of the book we will still do that for the cost of producing the book. (This way everyone would have a final copy either in the form of the pdf file or in the form of an actual book).

Based on the number of people already interested, alloting just ten days apiece for production time not counting mailing time it would be a year and a half before there was a final product if we followed the original plan. The final product would be a hard bound book.

We think people would like to see the work sooner. Also the people at the end of the book would not receive the book for an entire year or more.

For the first publication of the Pages Project the deadline is June 6th 2005.

If you are interested in being a part of the Pages Project please comment with your email address included and we will send you our address.

This would be an ongoing project so people who are newly interested can email us at midnight_confessions248 @ yahoo.com at anytime.

AGAIN:

In this post I am promoting my community.

It is a journalling community whose focus is on alternative journalling books, that are sent to members for their contributions and then mailed to the next person. Anonymity will be preserved in every way possible. The purpose of the books is to provide people with an outlet by which they can voice their fears, desires, secrets, experiences, whatever they feel they can't normally share with people. This idea is loosely based on Post Secret (http://postsecret.blogspot.com/). There will be a minimum of two books circulating through the member pool so that it will be impossible for people to know who they received their book from or who they are sending it to. A place to be truly human, NOTHING, is off limits.

I am recently studying this for an extension programme at school... adn i was just interested in the thoughts all of you might have about agriculture in our society today. also it is not a area that is very 'popular', presumably because many people can't see its benefits and so i thought it would be an interesting adn not-so-usual topic to bring up for discussion.

what i specifically wanted to talk about was how agriculture will be in the future, given the direction it is going in currently. in our world today, a lot of the foods, plants are modified, because monetarily, it is just more advantageous for the growers, suppliers adn etc. and although there are organic foods, the supply of organic foods is insufficient, adn the prices are too high to use such foods to effectively feed the world population.
and so some questions that are posed are
will genetically modified foods be the inevitable future?
if not, what alternatives are there?
what will the wide spread of genetically modified foods do to agriculture in the world?
and what impacts does the current trend/attitudes about agriculture have on developments in such an area?
P.S.
and also importantly,,,, do u know or have any thoughts about agro-terrorism or food-terrorism?

I was listening to the radio a few nights ago, and I heard something interesting. It was talking about how when looking for a pet, specifically talking about dogs, but the same goes for all pets, one should look for a pet with a similar attitude to oneself. When I first heard this, I thought it was absolutely crazy, I mean, a pet can't have that much influence on its owner. Then I realzed something for me. I have a dog and two cats. The dog is a big old lazy golden retriever, and the cats are cute, little, curious little kittens. Both appeal to different parts of me (I am a very curious, but very lazy person). And I realized that when I am sitting, the dog at my feet, and the cats curled up around me, it is just so calming, a sense of calm that you can't really get anywhere else. So here is my theoretical question. If you got a pet with a radically different attitude than yours (say you are a calm, peacefull person, and the pet was agressive and excitable) which do you think would happen first, you changing to be more like the pet, or the pet changing to be more like you?

I have come to the conclusion that those who are actually disturbed by the current state of American ignorance, can either:

1) Stick it out and try to be the next mover and shaker.

2) Leave. Be productive in a place that cares.

I am constantly shifting in and out of my values of this country and deciding if I want to do 1 or 2. Do I even want to help this parasite of filth? I think letting this peice-of-shit country crumble and helping build up another country (that actually acknowleges the rest of the planet)would be a better decision for all of humanity. I hope this place rots into a FOURTH world country and soaks in its boiling stench of bad karma. What will this place be like without its ozone-killing SUV's, murderous obesity-causing fast food dependency, and mediocre-mind deforming television shows???

Would the planet suffer from this loss? Would it benefit?

I think so.

Hey, I'm new to the community. I realized today, during debate club at my school, that most people were only there to say they did extra curricular activities. When forced to talk, they had nothing to add, and usually left the president wishing she hadn't called on them, and so got kind of starved for intelligent conversation beyond my small group of friends. And so I typed in Intelligent on the search, and this was one of the ones that came up.

Hello, I've just joined your community. This seems like a nice place, although it is barely posted in. Alot of my time is spent thinking about things, and I have started a notebook where I write my opinions on certain situations and ideas. Maybe I will post some of those ramblings here. I also like to write poetry occasionally, and I am currently working on a story. Reading is also one of my favorite things. Other than that, I love to work on my car, and I enjoy webdesign and listening to music. That's all.

First off, 90's music rocks.
Secondly, for some reason LJ cuts aren't really working for me lately. Fuck you, LJ cuts.
Thirdly- I'm not a part of a redneck agenda

Don't want to be an American idiot.
Don't want a nation that under the new media.
And can you hear the sound of hysteria?
The subliminal mindfuck America.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alien nation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
Well that's enough to argue.

Well maybe I'm the faggot America.
I'm not a part of a redneck agenda.
Now everybody do the propaganda.
And sing along in the age of paranoia.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alien nation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
Well that's enough to argue.

Don't want to be an American idiot.
One nation controlled by the media.
Information age of hysteria.
It's going out to idiot America.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alien nation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
Well that's enough to argue.

I think that this is a huge statement against the machine.
The lyrics express that they're sick of being in a nation that just is stupid and does nothing for them. The media controls our lives, and celebrities. Middle America idiots are the ones who seem to be focused on. I mean, our president is a stupid hick from Texas.

I've had the same thought of Johnny Depp does, that "america is a dumb puppy". But, I kept it to myself. But, fuck it. Start the uproar. We are american idiots.
